Perils of new parents!

And so like any new parent you worry about the latest arrival to the family. Will they sleep ok, will they like what you give them to eat and will they realise that your carpet is not the right place to consider having a pee!!!

Well during those first few weeks Alan and I went through all this. Surprisingly we only had 3 accidents on the carpet and this was after each of M's visits so we put that down to Niamh being upset. Imagine you've only known one face for 4 years and then suddenly your shunted off to a strange place where it's comfy and the people are nice but you don't know or trust them. Then the face you do know turns up but dosn't take you with her when she leaves. After M's first visit Niamh had literally tried to climb through the gate to try and follow her. She was frantic and it took me quite a while to calm her down.

M told me after her last visit that she would leave it 3-4 months until she possibly came again, that way Niamh would have really settled in and forgotten to some extent about the kennel life she had had before. M ressured me that if any time we needed her all we had to do was call. Also if we wanted teeth cleaned or nails clipped then to bring her back to the kennel to have it done. I thanked her and promised to keep in touch.

Since that last visit Niamh has calmed down considerably. She realises that Alan, Dan and I would not hurt her and that actually Box Hill aint such a bad gaff to crash in.

Before long I was getting wet noses on my feet in the morning to say "Wake up mum"

"I want to play"
